Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. She was made the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a part of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including arm control, budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently along with the president Reagan to meetings alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
